Welcome to the
Yadkin Valley Bluegrass Convention
In Memory of
Houston Caldwell & Alan Mastin
The Bluegrass community lost two friends during one fateful weekend...
Houston Caldwell, from Galax, VA, was a talented young banjo player who
had competed in Yadkinville many times during his young life and particpated
one last time at the most recent Yadkinville event. Houston left us way too soon.
He passed on Friday, April 30, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Alan Mastin, from the Fries, Virginia area, was the bass player for the popular
Big Country Bluegrass, frequent participants at our event in their formative years.
Alan was fatally injured in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, May 2, as
he was returning home from a show. This is a tremendous loss for the bluegrass
communty and for fans of the band, which had just signed with Rebel Records.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of these two bluegrass musicians.
